The Ursuline Order is spread all
over the world and the sisters are engaged in many ministries like teaching
at all levels, nursing, counselling, retreat giving, prayer groups, parish
ministry etc. The Ursulines came to Sandyford Parish in 1989 and live across
the road from St.Mary’s Church in the village. Their principal work is in
parish where they help with liturgies, playing the organ at church functions
including weddings and funerals. They prepare catholic children attending
non-catholic schools for the sacraments, help with the children’s Sunday
liturgy, with the mother’s & toddlers group, bring Holy Communion to the
sick and housebound, and other church activities.
The Irish Ursulines have a number
of convents in Ireland, Wales and Africa where a vibrant group of young
Kenyan Ursulines carry on the tradition of St.Angela.
The Ursulines welcome enquiries from those who are interested in religious
life.
The sisters of the parish (Sr.Vincent, Sr.Breeda, Sr.Finbar &
